Breathe

The air we breathe, the way we draw it into our lungs and release it, the altitude at which we do it..all these elements combine to make each breath unique. I've been thinking a lot about breathing lately...noticing it. I've been thinking about how this element, air...makes possible so much beauty in our world. Music, singing, an intimate whisper. The sound of the voice of someone you love. These things mark us, become a part of us, become as essential to us as...breathing.

the style with which the figure is painted reminds me of earlier works of Phil Alain. Interesting juxtaposition of East and West in the figure, with the Native elements added in primary colours. Fascinating, really...

Well, as long as I don't start painting jazz singers, I think Phil and I will be able to retain our respective individuality. I'll always have my inability to compose, short, to the point sentences.

But thank you. I didn't consciously create a blend of cultures, but I can see what you are talking about.

Interesting.

no, I don't think there is any danger of you going the "jazz" route :-)
Don't you see the resemblance though? (at least to the style of his "Lovers"?)
If you don't, I'll accept the fact that I may be hallucinating. No problem (grrrrr)

I don't, actually, but that could simply be because I am too close to my own work. Myopic, I know.

Sometimes we can't see what's right in front of us.
